What the service processes
The server receives your connection’s IP address to show it to you, look up network information and apply short-lived abuse limits. Addresses entered into the lookup form are checked against local database files. We do not contact the address being looked up or create a public lookup history.
Optional analytics through Google Tag Manager
The Analytics choice covers Google Analytics usage measurements and Microsoft Clarity heatmaps and session replay. Google Tag Manager manages these tags and is itself loaded only after this choice is accepted. Earlier Analytics choices described recording as disabled during map use. Returning visitors are asked again before analytics can run alongside maps; earlier Google-only or separate Clarity choices also do not grant this updated consent. Continuing to browse is not consent. Analytics remains off when you decline, when consent cannot be read or when the required tags are not configured.
Google Analytics receives page and interaction measurements. We do not add your IP, the address you look up or IP/device map coordinates to event values. Google still receives your connection IP and browser network requests when Tag Manager or Analytics runs. See the Google Privacy Policy.
Microsoft Clarity
After Analytics consent, Clarity can collect browser and device information, page views, clicks and scrolling, and pseudonymous cookie identifiers to help improve usability through heatmaps and session replay. As a network service, Microsoft also receives your connection IP.
Displayed IP details, lookup inputs and results, and location content are marked for masking in replays. Clarity continues during external map use and device comparison when Analytics is accepted. Masking does not guarantee that map resource addresses or graphics cannot reveal the viewed areas or device vicinity. Analytics stays off in local demos, on unrecognized pages or non-page endpoints, and when page addresses or referrers contain information we cannot safely record, including query strings and fragments.
We and Microsoft are independent data controllers. Microsoft may use the data for its own purposes under the Microsoft Privacy Statement, including Microsoft Advertising, product improvement and security. This site always signals that advertising storage is denied; that does not mean Microsoft has no separate uses of data. Its statement explains international processing and privacy rights.
Optional external maps
If you enable maps, your browser requests map tiles from the configured map provider, OpenStreetMap by default. The provider receives your IP and the requested map areas. These areas can reveal the vicinity of an IP estimate or, if you choose device comparison, your device. The text-based IP location estimate remains available without enabling maps. Map consent alone does not request your device location.
Optional device location
Only when you explicitly choose device-location comparison do we request a one-time position from your browser. External maps consent and browser permission are both required. We do not start location requests automatically or continuously track movement. Your browser may use GPS, Wi-Fi or other information and may return an inaccurate position.
The comparison keeps device coordinates and accuracy in page memory. We do not send them to our server, add them to Google Analytics events, or put them in cookies, local storage, page addresses or lookup requests. With Analytics consent, Clarity continues recording during device comparison. Location content is marked for masking, but map resources and graphics may still reveal the displayed vicinity to Microsoft. Coordinates are cleared when you hide the device location, withdraw map consent or leave the page. Map requests still disclose displayed areas to the map provider; removing the marker cannot undo requests already sent.
Your browser or operating system may use its own location provider to obtain a position. That provider’s data handling is separate from this website’s local comparison. Browser location permission can persist according to your browser settings. Hiding the marker or changing map consent does not revoke that saved browser permission; manage it in your browser’s site permissions.
When another IP is selected, device location still means the location of your own device, never the person using that IP.
Logs and retention
The application does not log raw visitor addresses or entered lookup values in ordinary request logs. Abuse-limit entries are held temporarily in bounded memory.
Per-site HTTP access logging is disabled. Application diagnostics record service and database status, not raw visitor IP addresses, entered lookup values or device coordinates. Dedicated web-server warning and error logs may contain connection IP addresses and request details needed to diagnose failures. They are scheduled for daily rotation with six retained archives, normally covering about seven days including the active file; delayed or failed maintenance can extend this period. Application diagnostics in the system journal follow the host's storage-capacity and rotation rules, without a fixed time-based expiry. Shared host-level web-server and security logs are managed separately and may also contain connection or security-event information. Shared web-server error archives have a 14-day cleanup setting evaluated when rotation occurs, not a guaranteed 14-day deletion deadline. Operational logs are used for reliability, troubleshooting and protecting the service, not to create an IP-lookup history.
Microsoft’s published Clarity retention periods are 30 days for ordinary session playback and nine months for heatmap/click data and labelled or favourited sessions. See Clarity data retention for current details.
Changing your choice
Use to change or withdraw optional consent. Withdrawing Analytics consent blocks new third-party requests and reloads the page to unload the tags; requests already in progress may complete. We clear accessible first-party Google Analytics and Clarity cookies, but cannot erase earlier provider data or cookies on their domains from this site. Necessary IP display and local lookups do not depend on accepting analytics.

The operator is responsible for documenting legal bases, processor arrangements and any international transfers. Depending on your location, you may also complain to the relevant data-protection authority.
