What the service processes
The server receives your connection’s IP address to show it to you, look up network information and apply short-lived abuse limits. Addresses entered into the lookup form are checked against local database files. We do not contact the address being looked up or create a public lookup history.
Optional analytics
If analytics is configured and you consent, Google Analytics receives page and interaction measurements. We do not add your IP, the address you look up or IP/device map coordinates to event values. Google still receives network traffic from your browser when its tag runs. Analytics remains off when you decline, when consent cannot be read, or when no measurement ID is configured.
Optional external maps
If you enable maps, your browser requests map tiles from the configured map provider, OpenStreetMap by default. The provider receives your IP and the requested map areas. These areas can reveal the vicinity of an IP estimate or, if you choose device comparison, your device. The text-based IP location estimate remains available without enabling maps. Map consent alone does not request your device location.
Optional device location
Only when you explicitly choose device-location comparison do we request a one-time position from your browser. External maps consent and browser permission are both required. We do not start location requests automatically or continuously track movement. Your browser may use GPS, Wi-Fi or other information and may return an inaccurate position.
Device coordinates and their accuracy are kept only in page memory for this comparison. They are not sent to our server or Google Analytics, and we do not put them in cookies, local storage, page addresses or lookup requests. They are cleared when you hide the device location, withdraw map consent or leave the page. Map requests still disclose displayed areas to the map provider; removing the marker cannot undo requests already sent.
Your browser or operating system may use its own location provider to obtain a position. That provider’s data handling is separate from this website’s local comparison. Browser location permission can persist according to your browser settings. Hiding the marker or changing map consent does not revoke that saved browser permission; manage it in your browser’s site permissions.
When another IP is selected, device location still means the location of your own device, never the person using that IP.
Logs and retention
The application does not log raw visitor addresses or entered lookup values in ordinary request logs. Abuse-limit entries are held temporarily in bounded memory.
Per-site HTTP access logging is disabled. Application diagnostics record service and database status, not raw visitor IP addresses, entered lookup values or device coordinates. Dedicated web-server warning and error logs may contain connection IP addresses and request details needed to diagnose failures. They are scheduled for daily rotation with six retained archives, normally covering about seven days including the active file; delayed or failed maintenance can extend this period. Application diagnostics in the system journal follow the host's storage-capacity and rotation rules, without a fixed time-based expiry. Shared host-level web-server and security logs are managed separately and may also contain connection or security-event information. Shared web-server error archives have a 14-day cleanup setting evaluated when rotation occurs, not a guaranteed 14-day deletion deadline. Operational logs are used for reliability, troubleshooting and protecting the service, not to create an IP-lookup history.
Changing your choice
Use to change or withdraw optional consent. Withdrawal stops future optional processing; it does not automatically erase measurements already sent. Necessary IP display and local lookups do not depend on accepting analytics.

The operator is responsible for documenting legal bases, processor arrangements and any international transfers. Depending on your location, you may also complain to the relevant data-protection authority.
