Cookies & browser storage

Optional means optional.

Silktide stores your consent choices in your browser. The site also remembers a theme you explicitly choose. These preferences are not sent as analytics events.

Analytics: Google and Microsoft

The shared Analytics choice covers Google Analytics and Microsoft Clarity, managed through Google Tag Manager, including during map use. Earlier choices that described analytics as disabled with maps, and previous Google-only or separate Clarity choices, do not enable this updated purpose. Neither Tag Manager nor its analytics tags load before consent. Analytics and maps run together when both choices are accepted.

If a Google Analytics property is configured, cookies such as _ga and _ga_… can measure usage. Clarity cookies such as _clck can remember a pseudonymous visitor identifier, while _clsk groups page views into a session. The site records the shared choice and a version/time receipt locally in this browser, without storing IP or location values in that receipt.

We always signal denied advertising storage, advertising user data and ad personalization to Google, and denied advertising storage to Clarity. Microsoft’s separate data uses, including Microsoft Advertising, are described in the Microsoft Privacy Statement. See also Microsoft’s cookie documentation. Withdrawing Analytics consent clears accessible first-party analytics cookies and reloads the page; it cannot remove data already received by Google or Microsoft.

External maps and device comparison

Map consent is independent of analytics consent. Enabling it allows your browser to fetch map images from the map provider; those requests disclose your network IP and requested areas even when no analytics cookie is set. Map consent does not grant browser location permission or automatically request device location.

The optional one-time comparison does not store device coordinates in cookies or local storage. It keeps them only in page memory until you hide the device location, withdraw map consent or leave the page. Your browser may separately remember its location permission; manage that permission in browser settings. Read the location privacy details.

Refusing optional services does not prevent IP display or database lookups. If your browser blocks local storage, optional integrations fail closed.
